Security Systems That Can Save You Money on Your Home Insurance.
Security Systems That Can Save You Money on Your Home Insurance.
While every insurance company is different, there are many providers who offer discounts based on the security systems you have installed in your home. It will be up to you to figure out if the discount is worth the cost of maintaining that system, but obviously, we should be looking at safety over the price tag, since that is more important. However, by saving money on your home insurance, it can make the cost of adding security seem all the more worth it. Here are some security features that you can add to your home that could potentially save you some money on your home insurance:
Deadbolt Locks. Deadbolt locks are more secure than a door’s latchbolt. While most homes may already have deadbolts installed, you should consider getting electronic ones if you don’t already. Electronic deadbolts can be synced to your smart home making it simple and secure. Deadbolting your doors could be done effortlessly with the click of a button. No more fumbling around for keys while trying to carry in your groceries, unlock the door from your phone for easy access.
Fire Alarms. All homes should already be equipped with a smoke detector. These are required in homes, as they play an important role in alerting people in case a fire breaks out. Again, this is something you already have, but is it time for an upgrade? With many smoke alarms now able to detect heat and flames and connect with your smart home, you can know more about what is happening in your house even if you aren’t there. This allows you to immediately call fire protection while it is still happening in order to mitigate the damage, or depending on your setup, the fire department may have already been alerted and are on their way.
Burglar Alarms. No one wants to be the victim of a home-invasion, and one of the most effective ways to deter thieves is to have an alarm in place. Just having the burglar alarm will help ward off potential intruders because looters know how these alarms complicate their mission. Don’t allow yourself to be a target - install a top-grade burglar alarm that connects with your smart home.
Security Monitoring. Whether the cameras are at the front and back doors or all throughout your home, having a security system that monitors what is happening is a big plus for your home. In fact, having security cameras can even increase the value of your home. While installing a quality security monitoring system may not come cheap, the peace of mind it can give makes it all worth it. For a sophisticated security system, take a look at what Control 4 has to offer.
If your home already has these features, but you are not yet getting a discount on your insurance for it, then it may be time to make a call to your provider to see what you can save. However, if you do not yet have some of these safety features, then it may be time to call us. Upgrading your security to sync with your smart home may be the next step you need to take to keep your home and your family safe.
